Speaker Appoints Parker to Pipeline Infrastructure Task Force
HARRISBURG – Speaker of the House Mike Turzai (R-Allegheny) announced today his appointment of Lauren Parker, a civil engineer and principal at Civil and Environmental Consultants in Pittsburgh, to the newly created Pipeline Infrastructure Task Force (PIFT).
“Lauren’s knowledge of the impact of regulation on consumers and businesses in the oil and gas industry is extensive and impressive,” said Turzai. “Studious, open-minded and collegial, she will have a positive impact on the PIFT’s mission.”
According to the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection, the task force was created because Pennsylvania will undergo a substantial pipeline infrastructure build-out to transport gas and related byproducts from thousands of wells throughout the state. The PIFT is designed so government can best work with the natural gas industry to ensure that positive economic benefits of Pennsylvania’s rich natural resources can more quickly be realized in a responsible way.
According to Turzai, Parker, 33, of Wexford, manages the permitting process and advises clients on the environmental permitting and land work required before well pads, pipelines and other natural gas projects are built.
Since 2008, Parker primarily has worked on oil and gas projects, specifically the upstream and midstream segments. She was selected to serve as vice chair of the Midstream/Pipeline Committee in 2014 and 2015 and was presented with the “Breitling Energy Future Industry Leader Award” at a March ceremony hosted by the Northeast Oil and Gas Awards.
“I am honored to be Speaker Turzai’s nominee and look forward to the opportunity of working with various stakeholders for the advancement of pipeline infrastructure in the Commonwealth in a sustainable and responsible manner,” said Parker.
Parker earned a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering Science from Penn State University before earning her Master of Science degree in Engineering Management from Robert Morris University.
