Veterans Assistance Available in Speaker Turzai’s McCandless Office
McCANDLESS – After a successful inaugural veterans’ assistance program on May 20, House Speaker Mike Turzai (R-Allegheny) announced that area veterans are invited to attend the next monthly assistance hours on June 17 at his district office in McCandless. Every third Friday of the month, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Larry Michaelis, department service officer with the American Legion, is available to assist veterans and their families in the 28th District.

“I was pleased to visit with our veterans as Larry explained the many services and programs available to them,” said Turzai. “It gives me great satisfaction to make programs available to our men and women who serve our country because they have fought valiantly to defeat tyranny and terror, and protect the liberties we hold most dear.”

Michaelis assists veterans and their families with compensation, pension questions, death benefits, education, health care issues and more. Veterans do not have to be a member of the American Legion to receive these services. Walk-ins are welcome, but advanced scheduling is encouraged.
