Turzai Votes Against Budget, Supports Fiscal Restraint
Rep. Mike Turzai (R-Allegheny) released the following statement regarding the vote on budget legislation, House Bill 1286, which took place in the House today:
“The governor has asked for seven new taxes. He already increased the personal income tax, taking $800 million out of our taxpayer’s pockets. The governor’s budgets have increased spending by 33 percent in just four years. And now he wants to increase spending by 7.4 percent, over three times the rate of inflation.
“Enough is enough. We need to control spending, stop borrowing against our kids’ future and stop tax increases. In fact, we should enact a slow growth budget that spends less than the rate of inflation and rolls back the personal income tax to put more money into the pockets of hard-working taxpayers.”
