2019-20 House Session Opens with Turzai Elected Speaker; Improving Economic and Educational Opportunities, Fiscal Responsibility, and Re-imagining Government Services Top Agenda

HARRISBURG – The 2019-20 Session of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives opened today with the election of Rep. Mike Turzai (R-Allegheny) as speaker. Two hundred of the 203 members took their oaths of office today (see note below). The House also adopted a set of rules governing how the body operates.

Turzai Secures Grant for North Allegheny School District

PITTSBURGH – Speaker of the Pennsylvania House Mike Turzai (R-Allegheny) secured a $250,000 Gaming Economic Development Fund (GEDF) grant for the North Allegheny School District’s plan to improve its athletic fields at the North Allegheny Intermediate (NAI) School complex.

HARRISBURG – Speaker of the House Mike Turzai (R-Allegheny) and Pine Township Manager Scott Anderson today announced plans to construct an asphalt path connecting Pine Community Park and the Treesdale Residential Community to help increase the safety of pedestrians and bicyclists.
