The Speaker of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives, Rep. Mike Turzai (R-Allegheny), initiated calls to bring manufacturers and health care providers together to meet both business and patient needs.

After conversations with Rep. Doyle Heffley, Andy Carter and Warren Kampf of the Hospital and Health System Association of Pennsylvania (“HAP”), and Gene Barr of the Pennsylvania Chamber of Business and Industry, Turzai was joined by Majority Leader Bryan Cutler, Majority Appropriations Chairman Stan Saylor and Majority Whip Kerry Benninghoff in discussing the need for personal protective equipment (PPE) at Pennsylvania hospitals and the identification of manufacturers in Pennsylvania that could repurpose facilities to produce such equipment.

Attached is a list of items provided by HAP to the chamber that are needed in hospitals. House Republican Caucus members are working to connect manufacturers in their legislative districts with the chamber and HAP to identify those that could repurpose their facilities to make these needed PPEs. This will help ensure the Commonwealth is prepared to meet health and safety needs while also providing opportunities to keep businesses operating and people working.
