HARRISBURG – Speaker of the House of Representatives Mike Turzai (R-Allegheny) today announced that his office obtained grant funding for Vincentian Academy to help pay for needed work on heating and cooling systems.
Vincentian will receive two grants totaling $350,000 to remove and replace existing boilers and to install new heating and cooling elements at Vincentian Academy High School.
The first grant, for $100,000, is through the Department of Education Job Training Grant Program. The second grant, in the amount of $250,000, is through the Gaming Economic Development Fund (GEDF), which funds community projects in Allegheny County through a tax assessed on slot games in casinos. Votes by two separate entities are needed to finalize these grants.
“We are pleased to report that Redevelopment Authority of Allegheny County (RAAC) voted to approve this grant at its scheduled meeting on Friday, Oct. 25, and the Commonwealth Financing Authority (CFA) voted to approve it at its scheduled meeting today,” Turzai said.
