HARRISBURG –Speaker of the House of Representatives Mike Turzai (R-Allegheny) today said he is pleased to have obtained a state grant for Pine Township to purchase and install a handicapped-accessible splash pad at Pine Community Park.

“We were pleased to have worked with Pine Township to secure funding for a planned splash pad at the Pine Community Park,” Turzai said. “The addition of a splash pad will enhance the recreational options available to the residents of Pine and promote play opportunities for children of all ages and abilities.”

A splash pad is a recreation area that has water-spraying nozzles and is designed for children to enjoy water play. The $250,000 grant from the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development will pay for a splash pad that includes four different bays that have interactive and educational features for all groups and abilities.

“The inclusion of a family-friendly splash pad has been part of our vision for the future of Pine Community Park for several years,” said Joni Patsko, director of Parks and Recreation for Pine Township. “We are excited to be able to move forward with this project and are thankful for the support of Speaker Turzai in securing state grant funding.”
