Speaker commends company on its commitment to Allegheny County, providing quality jobs
HARRISBURG – House Speaker Mike Turzai (R-Allegheny) today praised Covestro LLC for its recent agreement with Bayer Corporation to purchase Bayer’s Robinson Township campus in Pittsburgh, which is home to Covestro’s U.S. headquarters. The change in ownership is planned for Dec. 31, 2020.

“We are pleased that Covestro made the decision to purchase Bayer’s Robinson Township campus,” said Turzai. “This transaction shows a strong commitment to keeping about 750 jobs in Allegheny County. House Republicans have worked diligently to attract business growth while creating a need for skilled professionals. Covestro’s continued growth will build on the area’s economy.”

Covestro LLC is one of the leading producers of high-performance polymers in North America and is part of the global Covestro business, which is among the world largest polymer companies with 2018 sales of $14.6 billion. The business’ activities are focused on the manufacture of high-tech materials and development of innovative solutions for products used in many areas of daily life. The main industries served are the automotive, construction, wood processing and furniture, electrical and electronics, and health care.

“This is a big win for Allegheny County,” said Turzai. “We are proud Covestro recognizes the tremendous assets the Commonwealth has to offer and are enthusiastic about its plans to deepen its roots here.”
